Just months after her dramatic exit, Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix) is staging a return to Hollyoaks.
The popular villain, as viewers know, made an almighty comeback from the dead last year – a decade after her supposed demise.
Her comeback left sister Grace Black (Tamara Wall) reeling and it didn’t take long for her to make her presence felt as she was confirmed to be the wife of DI Banks, who had been running the exploitation operation in the village.
Given how iconic Clare was to Hollyoaks – with star Gemma having played the character across various stints since 2006 – it was a no brainer that she be featured in the show’s 30th anniversary year.
And what an anniversary it proved to be, with Clare involved in a plane crash as killer Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) wreaked havoc.
Tragedy also struck for Clare after she accidentally shot Grace, who died in subsequent scenes. Last we saw the villain, she was carted away kicking and screaming by police officers, with Froggy (John Middleton) having played a key role in her arrest.
Clare promised she’d back and she’s seemingly staying true to her word, with reports claiming that star Gemma is already back on set and filming new scenes.
‘There are going to be a lot of people who aren’t happy to see her after what she did to Grace and she could find herself in serious danger,’ a source told The Sun.
‘Her return is definitely going to be explosive.’
Metro has reached out to Hollyoaks for comment.
Clare’s latest stint went down a storm with fans of the long-running Channel 4 soap and Gemma previously told us that a comeback for the deliciously evil character wasn’t something she thought was on the cards for her.
‘It was something that wasn’t really in my sights – because she was dead!,’ she told me last June.
‘I didn’t really think that it was going to happen again.’
