The morning of a wedding, there will be plenty of emotions swirling.

Hopefully, the overwhelming feeling is excitement, followed by anticipation and probably a little anxiety over how the day will go.

But the one thing a bride definitely doesn’t want to experience just hours before the ceremony is panic or upset.

However, one tiny mistake with a wedding dress the morning of the big day could cause just this, as one woman tragically found out.

A wedding make-up artist has gone viral on social media after sharing a look at the seemingly innocent blunder a bride made on her wedding day, which ruined her dress.

Colleen Conroy, who has been working in the wedding industry for more than 20 years, took to Instagram to share why you have to be incredibly careful about where you hang up your dress.

In the caption, she explained that the garment bag containing the all-important lace gown had been hung up in what they had thought was a safe spot, as the bride got ready.

But when it came time to put the dress on, they discovered several large scorch marks along the bottom of the fabric.

‘Unfortunately, there was a discreet baseboard heater at the bottom of the hooks where it was hung,’ Colleen said. ‘The baseboard heat went right through that garment bag and right onto the wedding dress.’

According to the make-up artist, the dress ‘made an incredible comeback’, but the situation is still far from ideal.

So the lesson for all brides and bridesmaids is to double- or even triple-check where you’re hanging a wedding dress and ensure there are no sneaky heaters in sight!

More than 49,000 people have liked Colleen’s post, with hundreds taking to the comments to share the ‘craziest’ things they’d seen happen the morning of a wedding.

One fellow Insta user, known as @madebymarydepree said: ‘My cake didn’t arrive, so I had Twinkies instead.’

While @davidmadewoodworking wrote: ‘I used baby powder once on a dress after a bride walked across a freshly tarred bridge. Worked great!’

And @jessiemaysblooms shared: ‘I’m a make-up artist too. One of my brides got headbutted by Steve the stripper on her hen’s night when he tried to take off his Velcro pants. He ended up breaking her nose and giving her two black eyes, a week before her wedding, which was fun to cover up on the day.’

Others shared tips for what to do if something were to happen to your dress, with some claiming ‘white chalk’ might hide the stains.
