X is down, with thousands of people worldwide saying they cannot load the social media network.
The website went down in the UK just after 1pm, according to internet outage tracker Downdetector.
More than half of the 3,319 affected users say they cannot load the X app.
Some 23,000 people in the US are facing similar problems, while well over 45,000 outage reports have been raised in Japan.
Users in Canada, Australia, France and Germany, among others, have also been impacted.
When Metro accessed X on a computer, the website loads but the feed displayed a message reading: ‘Something went wrong. Try reloading.’
Why is X down?
X does not have a health status page, so it is unclear what is causing the blackout.
The service’s developers platform says: ‘All systems are operational.’
This isn’t the first time X, formerly known as Twitter, has gone down.
Tens of thousands of people weren’t able to access the app last month, encountering empty feeds and endless loading screens.
It came amid global outrage over the apps’ in-built AI chatbot, Grok, generating sexualised images of real people.
Another outage happened in November when X, Spotify, and dozens of other websites were knocked out by an issue with Cloudflare.
The software company that helps websites manage internet traffic suffered a hiccup with its network.
Cloudsflare’s system status webpage is reporting no known major issues.
