Photos have emerged of Shia LaBeouf in a brawl that unfolded during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans – and ultimately landed the actor in jail.
It was reported that the Transformers star, 39, was celebrating the holiday in the city’s French Quarter when a fight erupted.
At around 12:45 am, the authorities were called to Royal Street, according to a news release from the New Orleans Police Department.
Investigators said that LaBeouf had caused a disturbance and was ‘becoming increasingly aggressive’ at an unidentified business, according to The New York Times.
One of the alleged victims reported being struck by LaBeouf, who ‘used his closed fists on the victim several times.’
The publication reports that the victim told the police that LaBeouf left, but soon returned and was even more agitated.
The actor later struck the same victim again with a closed fist to the upper body and punched another person in the face.
Based on the images, it appears LeBeouf is eventually thrown to the ground and restrained.
TMZ then reported that, according to court records, he was subsequently arrested and is facing two counts of simple battery.
The Daily Mail has since reported that LaBeouf has been released from jail and has been seen out and about in New Orleans once again.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, employees at a string of bars claimed that on the night of the incident, he turned up to one shirtless and without any cash, was ‘inebriated’ and even repeated ‘do you know who I am?’ to multiple people.
He was also described as acting ‘somewhat belligerent’. Another declared that he was ‘terrorising the city’.
In one photo, he was seen from behind shirtless with his back tattoo on full display outside the saloon as he confronted a group of people.
LaBeouf has not publicly commented on what has been unfolding, however, the actor posted a selfie of himself wearing Mardi Gras beads on his X account, and later a message that just read: ‘Free me.’
